Preparing for PHP upgrade

Over the coming week TAPACOM some hosted web sites may be offline intermittently in preparation and execution of an upgrade of its PHP services. Work will be done during non-primetime periods so that the impact will be as small as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Aggravating potholes …

Technology today depends on different technology providers working in synch with each other. When it doesn’t work well stuff happens. This morning it happened. There was a change made by one of our network providers and the word didn’t come down in time to make sure there would be no service disruption. Virus filter activated

Activated filter to quarantine email with detected viruses. This will be tested for the next week or two. If found effective, will filtering will continue.

Junk mail filter showing positive results

Since activating the junk mail filter some mail has been tagged as junk. So it appears that it is doing the job. More “training” will be continued and adjustments will be made to the filter sensitivities. So far, no false positives have been detected.

WebDAV services

TAPACOM provides WebDAV services which enable groups of people to work in a collaborative environment. WebDAV allows a user to mount the remote WebDAV folder onto their local desktop as if it were a locally attached volume. Look in the Resources page for more information about WebDAV.

Junk mail filter testing

Filters have been activated on TAPACOM user mail and will be tested over the next week. No mail will be blocked or deleted. The filters will mark the subject line to identify it as possible junk mail. If testing shows no problems and proves effective then the filters will be continued. Osiris back up …

The server, Osiris, has been restored to functionality. A corrupted file that was needed by the web server was the cause for the system crash. Changes were made to prevent the same type of problem from reoccuring.

Web server on Osiris down for maintenance …

The web server on one of the machines (Osiris) on the TAPACOM network exhibited some problems early Sunday morning. Work is being done to restore it to functionality. This does not affect web sites hosted on the Hoku server. News will be posted about this as it becomes available.
